While some women say it makes them feel 'confident', men are stating this sex position is something they're not a fan of trying in the bedroom.

Sex forms part of any healthy relationship, with the practice ensuring couples feel closer to one another.

And, of course, there are many ways to spice things up in the bedroom - but doing certain acts between the sheets can bring with it risks.

One of them being the reverse cowgirl, a variation of the cowgirl position, which typically involves the receiving partner on top and facing backwards.

According to Reddit, women can't get enough of this sex position as it instils them with 'confidence' after the joy of 'controlling the pace’.

Men, on the other hand, are not a fan, amid the risk of serious damage being done to the penis.

"Reverse cowgirl. I can't enjoy it because I'm too afraid she's going to come down at the wrong angle and break my dick," one person penned on Reddit.

Another added: "Cowgirl always feels just a little like she might break my d**k," while a third remarked: "My penis gets… very very hard [and] whenever me and my girlfriend decide to do cowgirl it becomes a problem because I need my penis to be perpendicular to my body… otherwise it [feels] too tight."

Meanwhile, another bloke described the whole situation of the reserve cowgirl as a total 'eh' situation when in practice.

Doctors have warned men of the risk of fracturing their penis during this act, though with some reports suggesting that it occurs to 1 in 10,000 people, it is pretty rare.

Nonetheless, it's good to hear the advice of the healthcare professionals who know all about this.

So, if the penis becomes fractured during reverse cowgirl, you'll hear an unpleasant 'pop' sound, according to TikTok’s most popular doctor, Dr Karan Rajan.

"This is the most dangerous sex position according to science, and it's the cause of 50 per cent of penile fractures,” he said.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a sign of a fractured penis is typically a 'popping or cracking' sound when an erect penis is severely bent or hit.

While there may be evidence the reverse cowgirl sex position can be pretty harmful, particularly for men, the fact more than 400,000 people searched up the term in 2025, it's still very much popular.

Just take care, lads. Last thing you want is a trip to the hospital...
