A social media influencer has claimed there are simple facial clues that can determine sexual compatibility and has made multiple videos analysing people based on their face.

When it comes to compatibility in a relationship, a lot of people want to know just how well they pair up with another person.

Not just socially and personality wise, but how they would get on in the bedroom as well.

While the obvious resolution when it comes to bedroom compatibility is that you should... well have sex, but that isn’t a viable choice for everyone.

Well, Lori Bell, a ‘face reader’ and hypnotherapist has argued there is a low effort way to decide what bedroom compatibility would be, and you don’t even need to talk to them to figure it out.

In one of her videos on TikTok she said: “People with very high [sex] drives tend to have a very long or wide lower portion of the face.

“Take a glance around these photos and notice, from the tip of the nose to the tip of the chin how long or wide they are.

“If your one of those people that has a long or wide lower portion of the face and thinks they don’t have a high [sex] drive you might just be repressing.”

While some people have commented praising Bell for her many videos on what she can gleam about a person from just looking at their face, it might be worth taking it with a very large pinch of salt.

The idea of ‘face reading’ is better known as physiognomy and has long been discredited as a pseudoscience.

University of Chicago Booth School of Business professor, Alexander Todorov has previously written an essay on the pseudoscience and explained why it can actually prove to be dangerous.

Explaining why physiognomy can be so alluring, they said: “I see two reasons for why physiognomy is so appealing. First, it promises an easy solution to a complex problem, which is how to figure out the intentions and capabilities of strangers.

“The second reason the physiognomist’s promise is so appealing is because it agrees with our intuitions. We form impressions quickly, and our impressions often seem to be shared by the people we know.”

He also added: “Physiognomy is the pseudoscience of reading character from faces, and the main promise is that you can infer people’s personalities from their facial features.

“Physiognomists’ notions are funny and ridiculous, except that their promise is alive and well—primarily because we are all naïve physiognomists, forming instantaneous impressions from faces and acting on them.”
