It looks like Elon Musk has had a change of heart over his former pal Donald Trump after the pair were embroiled in a brutal war of words last week which resulted in Musk making a bombshell Jeffrey Epstein claim.
Since Musk's tenure in Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) came to an end last month, the pair's seemingly close friendship appeared to unravel out of nowhere, as Tesla CEO Musk did a full 180 and started to criticize the president on Twitter.
The spat was triggered by the announcement of Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' which aims to extend significant tax cuts, exemptions, and spending adjustments. But Musk didn't mince his words as he slammed the proposed legislation as a 'disgusting abomination', claiming it would undermine all of the work he did at DOGE.

But things really took a turn when Musk went on to allege that Trump is named in the Jeffrey Epstein files.
"Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files," he claimed. "That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"
Musk added in a follow-up tweet: "Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out."
In response to the pair's social media tennis match, Trump said that alleged links between him and sex offender Epstein are 'old news' and that he would 'assume' his friendship with the SpaceX founder is now dead in the water.

"That’s called ‘old news,’ that’s been old news, that has been talked about for years," he said on Saturday (June 7). "Even Epstein’s lawyer said I had nothing to do with it. It’s old news."
All of Musk's tweets on the subject have since been deleted in what appeared to mark a major U-turn in the pair's very public clash.
And now it looks like Musk may be looking to patch things up even further with his former pal, as he spoke out on Trump's response to the anti-ICE protests which erupted over the weekend in LA.

Following the Trump administration's immigration raids, violent clashes between anti-ICE demonstrators and law enforcement reached new heights over the weekend, with two journalists being struck with non-lethal bullets while reporting on the chaos.

Several arrests have also been made since the protests broke out as tensions escalated, prompting Trump to authorise the deployment of 2,000 troops in an attempt to quell the violence.
The move has been met with backlash, as California Governor Gavin Newsom branded it as 'purposefully inflammatory' and said it would erode public trust in law enforcement.

But it looks like Musk is in support of the president, as he took to Twitter today (June 9) to make it clear where he stands on the issue.
Quote-tweeting a message from Vice President JD Vance which read 'This moment calls for decisive leadership. The president will not tolerate rioting and violence', Musk simply posted two American flag emojis.
In a separate Tweet, Musk re-shared a screenshot of one of Trump's Truth Social posts in which the president took a jab at Governor Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass.

"Governor Newscum and 'Mayor' Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they have done, and this now includes the ongoing LA riots. These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists. Remember, NO MASKS!" Trump wrote.
On Friday alone, at least 44 people were arrested on suspicion of immigration violations during ICE raids, with crowds of around '1,000 rioters' forming around the building, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
In a statement on Saturday (June 7), White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said 'violent mobs' had 'attacked ICE officers and federal law enforcement agents carrying out basic deportation operations' as she warned that the raids are 'essential to halting and reversing the invasion of illegal criminals into the United States'.
