Adriana Martinez, the mother of Uvalde shooter Salvador Ramos, was confronted by the family of one of his victims.

The footage shows the family of 4th grader Amerie Jo Garza approaching Martinez, asking why her son committed such an atrocity.

On 24 May Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary school, killing 19 children and two adults.

It was a horrific massacre that sent shock waves across the world, with investigations being launched into why Texas Police took so long to stop the shooter.

Families of the victims are, understandably, angry and in a recent exchange, some question the mother of the shooter.

Footage shows members of Garza's family approaching Martinez as she's crossing a road.

One distraught relative shouted at Martinez: "What reason did he have? Because he was pissed off at you? Because you destroyed him?"

Gunman Salvador Ramos was shot dead by police.

While another added: "What reason did he have to kill 21?"

Martinez, visibly upset, said in response to the family: "I know my son was a coward. You don't think I don't know that? I know. You don't think I'm carrying all that with me? You don't think I don't know. I know. And I'm sorry."

The police then arrived and helped disperse the heated interaction.

However, this is not the first time that Martinez has addressed her son's actions.

Previously she's spoken to CNN about Ramos, saying: "I have no words to say, I don’t know what he was thinking."

She added: "Forgive me, forgive my son. I know he had his reasons."

The reporter then continued to question what reasons Ramos could have for committing such a crime, to which Martinez responded: "To get closer to those children instead of paying attention to the other bad things, I have no words. I don’t know."

The school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, prompted a nationwide debate on gun laws.

Ramos' father, who shares the same name as the shooter, also spoke out following the incident.

In an interview with the Daily Beast said: "I just want the people to know I’m sorry, man, [for] what my son did."

He went on to say that he never 'expected' his son to 'do something like that' before going on to say: "He should’ve just killed me, you know, instead of doing something like that to someone."

"I’m never going to see my son again, just like they’re not going to see their kids. And that hurts me."
