New details have emerged about the police officer seen on CCTV footage during the Uvalde school mass shooting.
The cop was seen to be checking his phone as the rampage unfolded at Robb Elementary and many people pointed out how he had a Punisher logo as his lock screen.
Some called out the irony of a police officer supporting the defiant Marvel vigilante even though he was seemingly doing nothing to stop a gunman killing children and teachers.
Podcast host Albert Jaragua Corado wrote on social media: "That cop in Uvalde having his lock screen be the punisher logo and him being scared to take on an active shooter is truly the perfect encapsulation of how cops see themselves vs who they really are."

However, the reality behind the now viral image is more complex and devastating.
The officer has been named as Ruben Ruiz and his wife, Eva Mireles, was one of the two adult victims in the shooting.
KBTX reports Eva called Ruben to reveal she had been shot by the gunman and was slowly bleeding out in one of the classrooms at Robb Elementary.
One of the men involved in the investigation into the police response to the shooting has made the revelation in an attempt to stop the social media pile on of Ruiz.

Joe Moody, an El Paso Democrat and member of the Texas House of Representatives committee, told everyone that 'context matters'.
“I couldn’t say nothing seeing this man, who’s lost everything, maligned as if he was indifferent or actively malicious,” he said on Twitter.
"To those who haven’t bothered to read even the news that’s been reported in your rush to judgment, he attempted to engage but was removed from the building and disarmed.

"We’ll have much to say about the police response, but no criticism of this officer.”
Eva was still alive by the time the school shooting was over, however she later died on the way to the hospital, according to KBTX.
The leaked video showing what happened inside the school before law enforcement officers entered the classroom lasts for a whopping 77 minutes. It does not contain any images of children
Police handling the mass shooting have accepted they made the 'wrong decision' by not storming into the classrooms where the shooter was much sooner than they did.

There had been a 40 minute gap of time between the police unit arriving at Robb Elementary School and storming into the classroom.
