Howard Stern 'dumbfounded' at Kid Rock's transphobic Bud Light protest

The radio host called out Kid Rock over his protest

Howard Stern has said he’s ‘dumbfounded’ by Kid Rock's reaction to trans star Dylan Mulvaney being announced as a new brand ambassador for Bud Light.

Mulvaney, who has been documenting her transition on TikTok, shared a sponsored post on Instagram revealing that Bud Light had launched a special edition can with her face on. You can see Kid Rock’s bewildering response to the news here:

Shortly after Mulvaney was revealed as the new brand ambassador, 52-year-old Kid Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, shared a clip of himself wearing a MAGA baseball cap backwards and shooting up several packs of Bud Light. Way to waste your own money, Kid.

In the clip he says: “Grandpa is feeling a little frisky today.

"Let me say something to y'all and be as clear and concise as possible.

"F*** Bud Light and f*** Anheuser-Busch. Have a terrific day.”

Stern has now shared his views on the situation and it seems he’s quite perplexed by Richie’s over the top response.

Speaking during his SiriusXM radio show on Monday (April 11), Stern said: "I thought there must be a piece of this story that I'm missing and I don't know why.

"I'm not bothered by gay people or transsexual people. They don't impact my life. They don't hurt my life.

"I love when people are in love. You wanna be a woman, be a woman, you wanna be a dude, be a dude... Long as you ain't hurting anybody, I'm on your team."

Stern, 69, went on to say that he wishes Richie would come on his show to talk about what made him so ‘upset’

"[Kid Rock] transitioned from some kid in Michigan to a rock superstar,” he continued. "And that was a good transition.

Stern says he wishes Kid Rock would come on his show to talk about it. (The pair are pictured here in 2017).

"I'm really dumbfounded by why someone would care so much that they would blow up a can of Bud Light."

He then recalled Richie being ‘flamboyant’ back at the start of his career, adding: "He would wear a feather boa – you know, when he first started out with maybe even a mink coat, you know what I mean? He was flamboyant in his own way.

“I feel Kid Rock, his songs are all about living life the way you want, ‘I’m doing my thing man and f*** you if you’re not with me.’”

Stern then began to speak about country star Travis Tritt, who has also vowed to boycott the beer, saying he would love to have him on his show so he could explain why he feels so strongly.
