The internet is in a state of confusion after Hide The Pain Harold and Jordan Peterson met up in person.

The meme icon and the infamous clinical psychologist are an unlikely duo and it’s fair to say no one – and we mean absolutely no one – saw this crossover coming.

Hide The Pain Harold has been an internet sensation for years and he keeps his fans updated with his rather random excursions, from finding 'intergalactic' monoliths to exploring Hungary's largest suspended bridge.

For those who are not up-to-date in meme culture, Hide The Pain Harold – real name András Arató – became known after a stock photograph of him with a funny angst-filled smile went viral online.

The Hungarian retired electrical engineer and stock photo star, 77, has an iconic smile people were convinced was fake or strained.

Elsewhere on the internet, Peterson has made a name for himself for his controversial and conservative comments on cultural and political issues.

He was the inspiration behind the villain in Olivia Wilde’s 2022 film Don’t Worry Darling. The director labelled him an ‘insane’ man and a ‘pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community’.

Peterson obtained a cult following for his right wing views concerning political correctness and feminism. He’s also known for sharing his outrageous doubts about the climate crisis and his association with Joe Rogan.

So, Peterson has a large following but for a completely different reason when compared to his new pal’s viral fame.

On Wednesday (10 May), Peterson raised a few eyebrows with his latest Instagram post, which is a simple shot of him posing with Hide The Pain Harold who, as you probably guessed, is flashing his grin.

The pair are both dressed in simple shirts and casual blazers and perhaps in an effort to avoid stealing the spotlight away from Hide The Pain Harold’s toothy smile, Peterson opted for a blue steel smoulder.

“Hide the Pain,” Peterson captioned the post, in case his followers didn’t recognise the internet legend standing beside him.

The psychologist’s followers flocked to the comments in shock.

“New meme,” one person commented.

A second Instagram user commented: “What in the world are these two doing in the sae room?”

While a third admitted: “My brain doesn’t know what to do with this photo.”

“Legendary photo right there,” a fourth social media user declared.

And a fifth quipped: “AI is getting outta hand.”
