Michael B. Jordan gave a pretty straightforward reason as to why he hasn’t had kids yet, but people on social media were quick to pick at his reasoning.

Michael B. Jordan might be one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood right now and has been getting heaps of praise for his work in the brilliant Sinners this year.

So some fans were stunned to hear that the star doesn’t appear to be in a relationship and doesn’t have a wife or children.

Speaking in a teaser clip of Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, Jordan opened up his thoughts of family.

While playing darts at a pub with Letterman, Jordan said apart from making movies, his day to day life is pretty boring.

The conversation eventually moved to family and Letterman told the actor that he used to have two of the best dogs before they died.

Jordan responded to being asked whether he had pets, he said: “Nah, I want to start of small. I want to children. I want kids one day, but I gotta start off with like plants and dogs to see if I can, you know.

Letterman replied: “I see, plants, dogs then humans.”

The pair then started laughing with Jordan adding: “There it is, you know what I’m saying, If I can take care of a plant I should be able to get a dog, if the dog is cool I have a shot."

While it seemed like quite a sweet exchange between the two, with Letterman saying he hasn’t waited too long and is right on schedule, people on social media half disagreed.

Many remarked that caring for a plant or pet is far from the complexities and difficulties of taking care of kids.

One user wrote: “Someone tell him it’s nowhere near being the same thing.”

Another wrote: “Dogs and plants don’t ask a million questions by 10am lol.”

With a third writing: “Baby those dogs and plants don’t talk back like these teenagers.”

And another adding: “It’s not the same, these kids love talking back and they think money grows on trees.”

While many were remarking that those three things are simply not the same, some people defending Jordan and said they understood his logic

Some users even explained that prior to kids, they considered getting a plant or pet and seeing how they managed.
