A donut truck that was stolen earlier today in Syracuse was recovered in just under an hour by determined police officers.

The popular 'Glazed and Confused' donut truck was stolen in the early hours of the morning today (9 June) and dumped in the Inner Harbor in Syracuse, US.

Owner Paul Valenti was the first to notice the famous purple truck had vanished, but did not realise at first it had been stolen.

He said to syracuse.com: "I just figured someone moved it to the parking lot, but then I saw it wasn’t there."

After speaking with his colleague who closed up shop for the night at 3am who confirmed he had not moved the truck, Valenti contacted Syracuse Police Department to see if it had been towed.

Police told the owner that the truck was not on the tow list, meaning it most likely had been stolen.

Jumping into action, Valenti posted a picture of the iconic purple truck on Twitter, asking the public for help recovering the missing vehicle.

Within minutes, several users responded to say they had spotted the truck at the corner of Bear and Van Rensselaer streets near the Inner Harbor.

The sighting by social media users led the police straight to the missing truck in minutes, meaning the missing vehicle was found in just under an hour of Valenti realising it was missing.

News of the trucks recovery was shared on Facebook, with customers commenting that they were glad the truck was found.

Police miraculously found the truck within an hour of it being reported as stolen.

The post read: "The Donut Mobile has been found. Thank you to everyone who called in tips. Thank you to the Syracuse Police. We are thankful!!! In Donuts We Trust!!!"

Police confirmed that the exterior of the truck suffered no damage but the inside is said to have been 'trashed'. Surprisingly though, no donuts were damaged during the bizarre heist.

Valenti who is grateful to have recovered his truck is said to have offered plenty of free donuts to the officers who helped him, a perfectly cliché reward.

Facebook users were quick to comment on the cliché, with one user writing: "Leave it to the police to find the best donuts in town!!"

The owner also shared his gratitude for his loyal customers who helped locate the truck.

He said: "It's amazing what power social media has. This has to be the quickest case ever solved, thanks to the community."

Despite how quickly the truck was located, police have yet to determine who was behind the heist making it a real 'who donut' mystery.
