Drake confirms he wrote hit song 'Too Good' about Serena Williams amid rumors they were dating

Drake opened up to his mom about his hit 'Too Good' which he collaborated on with Rihanna and his intentions when writing songs about women

A clip shared to social media shows Drake talking to his mom about what his song 'Too Good' is about.

The singer-songwriter released the tune - which he collaborated on with Rihanna - back in 2016 and the music has been played on many a radio, hummed by many a mouth and sung from many lips ever since.

But do you know what - or in particular - who the song is actually about?

'Too Good' - the fourth single from Drake's fourth studio album Views - was a commercial success, hitting spot 14 on the US Billboard Top 100 and reaching within the top 10 in the UK and Canada.

The song was co-written by Drake and Rihanna as well as Andrew Hershey, Andre Sutherland, Atom Martin. And it was produced by Nineteen85, Maneesh Bidaye, and Dwayne Chin-Quee.

The tune sees Drake sing about not knowing 'how to talk' to someone or ask them if they're 'okay'.

He continues: "Yeah, and last night I think I lost my patience/ Last night I got high as your expectations/ Last night, I came to a realization/ And I hope you can take it/ I hope you can take it."

And then the singer resolves he's 'too good' to whoever he's talking about, and not just 'too good' but 'way too good,' saying they 'take [his] love for granted' and he can't 'understand it'.

But who is this mystery person he's talking about?

Well, a video circulating on social media shows Drake in the studio chatting with his mom Sandi Graham - who's off camera.

The pair talk about his up-and-coming releases and his mom questions whether he gets 'heavy' into his relationships, Drake noting he 'get[s] heavy on a couple tracks' but 'Too Good' is 'more about [him] and Serena'.

And while there are tons of people called Williams out there in the world, there were multiple reports and rumors in the years surrounding the song's release about whether or not the pair were dating. Although, a representative for Williams denied the claims at the time, telling PEOPLE in October 2015 the pair were 'simply longtime friends'.

Drake continued to his mom: "Well, it's funny because when I make songs about women, I also make songs for them. So, I know what kind of song to make. If I'm gonna talk about them, I'll at least do them the justice of making them a song that they'll like.

"I know Serena very well, and I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear, but not hate me for it because it’s lighthearted.”

Graham then asks: "And she is seeing someone else?”

Drake responds: "I don’t know, Mom."

Either way, time has passed and the pair have moved on, Williams happily married to and sharing children with Alexis Ohanian.
