Doja Cat has been called out after apparently calling her fans 'dumb'.

The singer came in for some flack this past week when she admitted that her last two albums were 'cash grabs' that people 'fell for'.

One of the albums in question was 2019's Hot Pink which was responsible for such hits as ‘Streets’, 'Juicy' and ‘Like That’.

This was followed up a couple of years later by Planet Her, which featured Grammy-winning hit ‘Kiss Me More’, as well as summer tune 'Need to Know'.

But despite their success, Doja Cat - real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini - doesn't seem to hold them in any high regard.

Doja Cat has ruffled some feathers with her recent comments.

Earlier this week, the singer tweeted: “Planet Her and Hot Pink were cash-grabs, and y'all fell for it.

"Now, I can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while y'all weep for mediocre pop."

Unsurprisingly, her words didn't go down too well with some.

“I’m sorry but when artists do this it’s so annoying like I really don’t care," wrote one.

"Then their ‘passion project’ sounds like ass and they act like it didn’t exist a year after it underperforms like cmon lol.”

And now she appears to have doubled down in her dumping on her fans.

In response to her initial tweet, one user said: "Everyone is mad because you are calling your fans dumb."

Replying to the post, Doja asked: ".... are they not?"

Ouch.

Burn.

Commenting on the post, one fan slammed: "Your behaviour is not doing what you think it’s doing."

Another said: "You going through something unexplainable. Let me mute you for my sanity. Cause I’ll always be a fan and I don’t wanna hate you."

"Someone you look up to insult your music now you’re embarrassed?" asked a third.

"And so now it’s the fans that are inadequate? I feel so much secondhand embarrassment for you. Rich or not, this is uncouth."

While another added: "Oooooh u make me so mad."

Now, it just so happens that all this 'controversy' has come ahead of the release of her new album.

Revealing its title on Twitter earlier this week, Doja wrote: "Its not called hEllMoUth either its called 'First of All' and yes I'm announcing the album title right now."

According to reports, her fourth album will shift away from the bubblegum pop sound she’s so good at and head in a hip hop direction.
