Tom Holland believes Into The Spider-Verse is 'the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made'

The Spider-Man actor had kind words to say about the animated film

Tom Holland has declared that Into The Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man film ever made - despite having appeared in three himself.

The 27-year-old has donned the red and blue Spidey suit for three stand-alone films, in addition to appearances in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Yet, the British actor has made it known that the 2018 animated version is the 'best Spider-Man movie that's ever been made'.

That's a big compliment, given there have been eight in the past twenty years, with three actors stepping into the role of the friendly neighbourhood vigilante.

At the premiere for his Apple TV show The Crowded Room, Holland told Associated Press: "I think the first ‘Spider-Verse’ movie is the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made.

"I’m so proud of everyone involved. [Producer] Amy Pascal is like my mom. I was supposed to go with her [to the premiere] as her date, I couldn’t go because I’m here working.

"But I’m incredibly proud of them, I’m excited for the second one. I’m sure it will live up to every expectation, and I can’t wait to see it."

Holland is, of course, referring to Across The Spider-Verse, which is hitting cinemas on Friday.

Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfield will be returning to voice Miles Morales/Spider-man and Gwen Stacy/Spider-woman.

The film, which has received an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, also features the talents of Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya and Oscar Isaac.

But just because Holland is full of praises for other Spider-Man entries, doesn't mean he is stepping back from the world of the web-slinger just yet.

Giving an update on the progress of his fourth outing as Peter Parker, Holland said: "I can’t talk about that, but I can say that we have been having meetings. We’ve put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers.

"There’s been multiple conversations had, but at this point it’s very, very early stages."

Amy Pascal echoed similar sentiments at the premiere for Across the Spider-Verse: "Are we going to make another movie? Of course we are.

"We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started."

Previously, the fourth Spider-Man film had been pegged for a 2024 release, with Holland set to return, alongside his girlfriend, Zendaya.
