Sadie Sink has opened up about her first ever kiss being on hit Netflix series Stranger Things.

Supernatural horror drama Stranger Things not only gripped viewers from the moment it graced our screens in July 2016 because of its heart-racing plot and horrifying portrayal of the 'Upside Down,' but also as a result of its very young but extremely talented main cast.

Joining the likes of Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair) and Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) was Sadie Sink who took on the role of Max Mayfield.

Sink was only 14 years old when filming first began for the Netflix sci-fi series which resulted in her first kiss being had on set. The actor has since opened up about what the experience was like.

In an interview with WMagazine, after being asked where her first kiss took place, Sink responded: "On set for Stranger Things. It was with Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas.

"We were filming. You can see it on Netflix! We were both awkward, but it was also funny because all our friends were there and all these extras and lights and music.

"It was nerve-wracking at the time, but I look back now and can laugh about it."

Sink has previously opened up about the 'awkward' moment, telling Heat the kiss took place 'in front of so many people'.

The actor said: "It's amazing to be with one of your best friends in this amazing 80s decked out gym, so I mean, kind of cool. I'm not mad at it!"

However, while Sink may not be 'mad at it,' some Stranger Things fans have been left concerned - particularly spurred on by a post-show clip in 2017.

In the clip, Sink said Ross Duffer (one half of Stranger Things' creators the Duffer Brothers) asked her if she was 'ready for the kiss' despite her not having seen it mentioned in the script.

"I’m like, 'What! No! That’s not in the script. That’s not happening'. So the whole day I was like stressed out, I was like ‘Oh my god, wait, am I gonna have to?!'" Sink continued.

Some Stranger Things viewers have expressed concern over the kiss.

In the clip, Ross responded to Sink stating: "You reacted so strongly to this. I was just joking and you were so freaked out that I was like well, I gotta make her do it now."

In an interview with Variety, Matt Duffer confirmed the kiss was unscripted and 'dropped' on Sink, admitting it 'caused a major panic'.

"You have to torture them a little bit. You know you’ve got to entertain yourself some way. And we have all these children who are just fun. I know exactly how to push their buttons at this point," he said.

Despite the backlash the Duffer Brothers have faced online, senior critic at Decider, Meghan O'Keefe said: "When asked about Sadie Sink's unwanted Stranger Things kiss, Holland says their first priority is to make sure every set is happy and healthy for everyone involved. #TCA18."

Sink has reassured fans of the show she always 'felt comfortable' and didn't feel 'pushed into anything'.

Sink also reassured The Wrap she was only 'nervous' because of it being her 'first kiss' rather than being fearful of the kiss itself.

The actor resolved she 'never objected to it or felt pushed into anything' and always 'felt comfortable' - the Duffer Brothers doing the 'best job, and always creat[ing] a comfortable space'.

Sink added: "And if I felt uncomfortable with anything, I wouldn’t have done it."
