Steve Martin is thinking of retiring from acting and claims he's taken his last ever acting role.

I'm not crying, you are.

The iconic comedian, who is turning 77 in a few days, is currently starring and directing in Hulu's Only Murders in the Building alongside Martin Short and Selena Gomez.

Having scored a mega 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the synopsis reads: "From the minds of Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman & John Hoffman comes a comedic murder-mystery series for the ages.

"Only Murders in the Building follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.

"When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth.

"As they record a podcast of their own to document the case, the three unravel the complex secrets of the building which stretch back years. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living amongst them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it's too late."

Well, Martin, who's on the verge of releasing new book Number One Is Walking: My Life in the Movies and Other Diversions, told Hollywood Reporter: "When this television show is done, I'm not going to seek others. I'm not going to seek other movies.

"I don't want to do cameos. This is, weirdly, it."

However, it's not all doom and gloom, as Martin backtracked, ever so slightly, saying: "My wife keeps saying, ‘You always say you’re going to retire and then you always come up with something'.

“I’m really not interested in retiring. I’m not. But I would just work a little less. Maybe.”

Despite being caught in two minds on what to do with the latest chapter of his life, Martin expressed gratitude for the incredible career that he's had.

"There’s a time in your career when people are dying to see you," he said.

"Now is the time in my career when I’m the one who’s got to show up."

From Planes, Trains And Automobiles, The Pink Panther and Cheaper by the Dozen, it's safe to say that his Hollywood legacy won't be forgotten.
