Star Wars Fans 'P***ed Off' Just Five Seconds Into New Show's Trailer

Just five seconds into the new trailer for Andor and Star Wars fans have found something new to grumble about.

A new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars show Andor just dropped and fans made it about five seconds in before finding something new to get 'p***ed off' about.

Starring Diego Luna as the fighter who helps steal the Death Star plans from Scarif in Rogue One, new series Andor looks set to give Star Wars fans a look at the early days of the Rebel Alliance.

Obviously, since the events of Andor take place before Rogue One, we know Cassian is going to get through this show alright, but there's plenty of excitement to be had before his fate is sealed.

However, some Star Wars fans are unhappy because about five seconds into the new trailer there's what looks like an AK-47 assault rifle clutched in a character's hands.

With that distinctive barrel and timber grip, it really just looks like someone sawed the stock off an AK-47 and dropped it in the Star Wars universe.

Apparently that's cause for some fans to be 'p***ed off', as one took to Twitter to vent their frustrations and slate the show for being 'lazy'.

More joined in, slating the production of the upcoming Disney+ series as 'lazy' for just sticking what looks like a contemporary gun into the beloved world of Star Wars.

Others said they loved the trailer but still found the appearance of an AK-47 to be a bit jarring, with one person wondering 'since when does Star Wars show branded Earth products'.

Presumably this gun will shoot blaster bolts instead of actual bullets, and Star Wars has always taken inspiration from real world guns to make their science fiction blasters.

George Lucas wanted to base his weapons on real-life examples, resulting in iconic items such as Han Solo's DL-44 blaster pistol being based off the Mauser pistol design with the boxy magazine.

The E-11 blaster rifle the Stormtroopers are constantly missing with in the original trilogy are pretty much just Sterling L2A3s.

Lots of other weapons used a long time ago in that galaxy far, far away are just made from bits of other guns chopped up and pieced together to make something audiences would instantly believe as a blaster.

Perhaps that's where the Andor trailer falls down in the eyes of some fans, by showing them something too clearly based off what we recognise from our world.

It would look weird to see a Starbucks cup of coffee or a Ford Fiesta in Star Wars, so perhaps just seeing a straight up AK-47 is very jarring.

The first three episodes of Andor will be released on Disney+ on 21 September with more to follow.
