At this point, the majority of big names in Hollywood have been linked to the MCU franchise.

While a lot of the rumors amount to nothing, there are certainly some that have substance, with actors eventually finding their way over to the Marvel universe.

And there's no surprise that the MCU is a real dream for a lot of actors, especially given a nice big payday would be on the way as well. After all, as of June last year, the MCU was the highest-grossing film franchise, with total worldwide box office revenue of a cool $26.6 billion.

The latest star to be linked to the mega-franchise is the Borat and The Dictator actor Sacha Baron Cohen, who is rumoured to be starring in a Disney+ special. Borat? In the MCU? Let's be honest, we'd all love to see this.

According to industry insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast, Cohen is set to star as villain Mephisto in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation.

The insider, who has got many things right in the past, said the Disney+ special is 'shooting right now' on the set of the upcoming Disney+ series Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Sneider is actually not the first to suggest that Cohen would be heading to the MCU, with Deadline reporting the same in October.

Reports first surfaced by Deadline last year that Cohen has joined the MCU as Mephisto, and will do so in the Ironheart series on Disney+.

The reports also claimed that Cohen had been spotted at Mavel’s UK Pinewood studios as he sets to join the MCU as playing the iconic villain.

Mephisto is purely a demon mastermind, clashing with the likes of Silver Surfer, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange over the years.

UNILAD has reached out to Sacha Baron Cohen's reps and Marvel for comment.

While Cohen could be set to join the MCU, one actor who we think will not be joining anytime soon is Nicolas Cage.

While Cage has dabbled in the world of Marvel superheroes before, starring in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and two Ghost Rider movies, the actor has never actually been part of the MCU.

But when asked if he would take on a role within the MCU, the actor gave the most Nicolas Cage answer possible.

Speaking earlier this month, he said: "I’m seeing movies like Tár. I’m seeing all kinds of artistic and independently driven movies. I think there’s plenty of room for everybody.

"I don’t need to be in the MCU, I’m Nic Cage."
