People are rushing to watch 28 Years Later's prequels now the highly anticipated movie has hit theaters.

Nearly 20 years after the second film, 28 Years Later is finally here - and early reviews imply that it was worth the wait.

So far, the star-studded horror has 7.4/10 on IMDb and a very impressive 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

One glowing review reads: "Not only is 28 Years Later well worth the wait, but the story benefits from the lengthy gap between instalments. It delivers big with Rage Virus-sparked tension and action, but also takes an unexpected turn that's staggeringly refreshing and effective."

A second fan of the movie penned: "[Danny] Boyle has delivered a film that doesn’t just extend the franchise, but deepens it. 28 Years Later is thrilling, terrifying, heartbreaking, and, above all, human."

Check out the trailer here:

The first instalment of the franchise was released in 2002 and, like all three films, boasted a stellar cast. From Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), to Naomie Harris (Skyfall) and Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), movie director Danny Boyle only wanted the best of the best.

Initially, there were reports that Murphy's character was back in 28 Years Later as a zombie in the trailer appeared to resemble the Irish actor, but this was later refuted.

The stardom didn't stop there as 28 Weeks Later has the likes of Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids) and Idris Elba (Luther). Need I say more?

While Murphy is not in the new movie as some hoped, the rest of the cast certainly makes up for it. Killing Eve's Jodie Comer is in the third instalment, as well as Harry Potter legend Ralph Fiennes.

Kraven the Hunter himself Aaron Taylor-Johnson is also in 28 Years Later, with Sinners star Jack O'Connell gracing the line-up too.

With the hype around 28 Years Later only growing, some people will be keen to watch its prequels: 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.
