MasterChef contestant kicked off show after serving judges a dish they'd 'never seen' before

Saray Carrillo took an unusual approach to one task that the contestants were presented with on the hit cooking show

A contestant on MasterChef had an unusual response to one of the tasks put out for the hopefuls.

Saray Carrillo had been competing on the show in Spain where the judges set her and fellow competitors a true 'farm to table' task.

This was aimed at showcasing their ability to cook something delicious, but starting from rather earlier in the process than many of us may usually do.

When we buy meat and poultry, typically it's purchased already filleted, skinned, gutted, and boned depending on the cut.

While many of us eat meat we are very detached from the animals that the meat actually comes from.

So the contestants on the show were in for a rude awakening when they were presented with a partridge, a type of game bird, to cook for the judges.

However, there was a rather big catch with the ingredients that they were given.

Rather than having the birds boned, gutted, and filleted, the would-be master chefs were given them whole.

And yes, we mean completely whole, with guts in, feathers on, and a face.

The chefs then had to pluck and gut their birds before cooking them however they saw fit.

It could be roasting them whole, or perhaps taking out the breast fillets, or taking off the legs to confit.

In short, they had a lot of options, but first they had to actually deal with their bird.

Unfortunately for Saray, she had a major aversion to handling and dealing with poultry, so needless to say this was not the task for her.

Saray simply could not deal with having to process a bird from start to finish.

As a result she had a novel response to the challenge.

This was to simply present the judges with her bird still with the feathers on, served on some spring onions and tomatoes.

One of the shocked judges can be heard to say in Spanish: “This is never seen in MasterChef.”

The clip of her went viral on social media, garnering some 1.8 million views online.

And well, of course the judges were not at all impressed by the stunt and Saray was kicked off the show.

But Saray was not fazed by this, saying simply 'bye bye' as she left the show.

Well, that's certainly one way to make a dramatic exit!

And in fairness, plucking a bird and getting the guts out is definitely not for everyone.
