Angelina Jolie praised for calling out Jay Leno for his ‘disrespectful’ incest jokes in resurfaced clip

Angelina Jolie had the perfect response.

We all know that Angelina Jolie takes no sh*t, and this video just proves it.

Back in 2000, Jolie was joined by her brother James Haven at the 57th annual Golden Globe Awards where Jolie won an award for Girl, Interrupted.

Following her win, Jolie was snapped kissing her brother on the lips - which sparked a media frenzy at the time.

Jay Leno had joined in on said frenzy and, like many others, made incest jokes about Jolie and Haven.

These remarks were obviously upsetting for the family - Jolie and Haven's late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, in particular.

As Leno was one of the people to poke fun at the situation, Jolie got her own back on the TV host on his own show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Addressing the elephant in the room when Jolie sat down, Leno said he knew that Jolie was mad at her.

But this was about remarks he'd made about her and her then-new husband Billy Bob Thornton.

Asking if she was mad about the jokes, the actress said: "They were too stupid to be mad about."

Going on to address the jokes made about her and her brother instead, Jolie continued: "Anybody here, you know, when someone says stuff about your family, it's just not okay.

"And my mom's just not been okay about the stuff about me and my brother."

The Hollywood star then presented Leno with a piece of paper where the things he'd personally said on the situation were written down, and she asked him to read them out.

"I've highlighted the two that [my mom] really appreciated and made her sick," Jolie said as she pointed at the paper.

Trying to defend himself and saying that he wasn't the only one to make such comments, then 24-year-old said it was 'good of you to just jump in with everybody else'.

Leno continued to dance around the topic and insisted they were just 'silly jokes' - but didn't apologize.

Over 20 years on from his remarks, Jolie is still be applauded for calling him out.

"Normalize calling men on their sh*t in public," said one person on Reddit.

"He thinks he's so clever but the moment she calls him on it he becomes squirmy and uncomfortable."

Another added: "What a delicious public dragging."

"What a legend. He was trying to backpedal reallll hard and she wasn’t having it," a third went on.

Elsewhere, someone else hailed Jolie's actions as 'queen sh*t'.

A representative for Jay Leno has been approached for comment.
