People are raving over 'banger' pirate series on Netflix that's 'an absolute 10/10'

The series has been described as 'the best pirate show of all time' by fans

If you know every scene in Pirates of the Caribbean and Treasure Island is a well-thumbed book in your house, then there's a new series you need to try.

The perfect escape from everyday stressors like work and chores, the episodes are set on and around the Bahamian Island of New Providence in the early 18th century, twenty years prior to the story told in Treasure Island.

It follows Captain Flint and his fellow pirates, with Toby Stephens in the role of the captain, starring alongside the likes of Jessica Parker Kennedy, Hannah New and Luke Arnold.

Combining characters from Treasure Island with real historical figures and events, the series plays out as pirates are terrorizing the Caribbean and the North Atlantic, creating huge financial and image problems for the rulers who conduct trade in the region.

So, if you needed another excuse to sit in front of the TV for hours on end, I reckon you could argue the series is somewhat educational, too.

Arnold takes on the role of crafty British merchant sailor John Silver, who joins the crew of a pirate vessel, captained by Flint, after they take over his ship.

Meanwhile, Flint is on a mission to become the richest pirate on the seas - he just needs a page from a captain's log to find the bounty, and Silver's keeping the log close to his chest.

Created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, the historical drama, titled Black Sails, originally ran on Starz from 2014 to 2017.

But the best part is, it's now available to binge on Netflix in the US, with four whole seasons to sink your teeth into.

Netflix users are strongly recommending the Black Sails for those who haven't already given it a go, with one taking to LADbible's Netflix Bangers Facebook group to describe the series itself as a 'baaaaaanger'.

Yep, that's six 'a's, so you know it must be good.

Other fans of the show have agreed, with one commenting: "10 out of 10!!!"

Over on Reddit, Black Sails has earned the impressive title of 'the best pirate show of all time'.

However, one other Reddit user argued: "It’s arguably the best historical fiction show of all time! Not limited to pirates!"

Needless to say, then, fans are impressed with the show. So what are you waiting for?

Black Sails is available to stream on Netflix US now.
