Tyler Perry teases ‘turning of tables’ in Netflix’s Beauty in Black part 2 as fans slam ‘crazy abrupt’ part one cliffhanger
Viewers have said the eight-episode series has had them in a 'chokehold'

Tyler Perry has teased what to expect in part two of his Netflix Beauty in Black series, after fans were left floored by a 'crazy abrupt' cliffhanger in part one.
The first half of the 18-episode series dropped on October 25, and it's the most-watched TV show on Netflix worldwide, with Australian drama Territory and legal series The Lincoln Lawyer closely behind.
Beauty in Black is part of Perry’s creative partnership with the streaming giant, which will see him write, direct, and produce films and series under a multi-year first-look deal.

The drama centres on two women whose drastically different lives collide, with explosive consequences.
Taylor Polidore Williams stars as struggling Kimmie, who turns to stripping for a living after being kicked out by her mom. Perry fans should recognize Williams from Amazon Prime Video series Divorce in Black.
The drama, set in Atlanta, also stars Acrimony's Crystle Stewart as Mallory, who finds success running her own haircare business.
Some fans think Perry went a bit too heavy on the 'hood' stereotypes though, as one fan vented via X, formerly Twitter: "I’m on the last episode of Beauty In Black and it’s like TP literally threw together every possible hood storyline he could into this show... A family business empire, family feuds, strippers and prostitutes, closet gays, extra marital affairs and more."
A second joked: "I feel like Tyler Perry wrote the Beauty In Black script and then ran it through ChatGPT and said 'make this ghettoer.'"
But it was the show's insane cliffhanger that had fans in a 'chokehold'.
At the end of episode eight, jealous strip club owner Body has managed to kidnap Kimmie’s sister - which is wild enough, right?
But in an even crazier turn of events, Kimmie, finally standing up for herself, speeds a car right into Body, pinning her between two bumpers in a motel parking lot.
Perry said of part one's ending: “I’m always trying to write these cliff-hangers, where people are going, ‘Wait, did you see this?’ I want people talking about it around the water cooler, and on [social media], and trending, and just loving it.”
Taking to X, one fan said: "Bruh that cliff hanger was crazy abrupt I’m hollering #BeautyInBlackNetflix" as a second typed: "The cliff hanger on #BeautyInBlack is keeping me on the edge. I want to know what happens next".
Another wrote: "So I watched all 8 episodes this weekend and I’m in a chokehold. I’m rooting for Kimmie!!! How are they going to leave on a cliffhanger like that????"
Luckily, Perry has shed a little bit of light on what fans can expect in part two - and it sounds like another eight episodes of twists and turns are in store.
He previously teased: “I don’t think anybody’s going to be able to figure out where it’s going and how that rise of power happens with Kimmie. It’s going to be mind-blowing for people. Like, ‘Wait a minute, how does she get into power?'"
An exact release date is yet to be set for Beauty in Black part two, but the next eight episodes will drop sometime in spring 2025.
