Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown was totally flabbergasted when she found out her character's true age.

The British actress, 18, plays the leading role as Eleven in the Netflix originals television series.

Joined in an interview by her co-star Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, Bobby Brown revealed to fans just how shocked she was to find out Eleven's age in the show.

In the interview, the two young actors can be seen exclaiming in unison: "Eleven is 14?"

With some gob-smacked pause and hesitation, Bobby Brown realised: "I was making out with Mike... at 13?"

During Bobby Brown's disbelief, Schnapp can be heard echoing 'she's so young', as his co-star lets out a final 'what?!' to conclude her shocked reaction.

Millie Bobby Brown couldn't believe that her character was only 14.

A TikTok clip of the interview has since amassed more than 4.2 million views, and thousands of comments – so it's fair to say that some Stranger Things fans were blown away by Millie Bobby Brown's reaction.

For some, it was a lightbulb moment as to why Hopper, Eleven's adoptive father, was so protective.

"Now I understand why Hopper is so mad," commented one TikTok user.

Another agreed: "Hopper wasn’t overprotective, he was just age appropriate."

Others seemed to be just as shocked as the Stranger Things star.

"Man, she's saving the world in 14 years old?!" exclaimed one TikTok user.

Another chimed in with: "I THOUGHT SHE WAS 16??"

Some fans found it odd that the cast didn't know the age of the characters they have been playing for six years now.

One person stated: "Kinda concerning that they didn't know the age of their characters..."

"I can’t believe they didn’t already know their own characters ages lol," wrote another.

The news follows Stranger Things setting an impressive all-time streaming record, with dedicated fans racking up billions of minutes of watch-time since season four dropped.

The long-awaited fourth season of the smash 80s sci-fi show returned to Netflix on 27 May.

While volume one went down a charm, many fans were on the edges of their seats in anticipation for the second volume, which arrived on 1 July.

The recent release consists of just two episodes, however one of the episodes is whole two-hours-18-minutes long.

All episodes of Stranger Things season four are currently available to stream on Netflix now.
