Metallica Gifts Stranger Things Star Joseph Quinn His Own Guitar

Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn and Metallica rocked out to Master of Puppets at Lollapalooza

Metallica presented Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn with his own guitar as well as taking some time to rock out with him in honour of his iconic performance in the show.

Quinn, who plays Eddie Munson in the hugely popular Netflix sci-fi series, teamed up with James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo backstage at Lollapalooza, where the band were preparing to gig.

In a short video released by Netflix, Quinn revealed that he might have been a bit out of practice, but showed he still has the chops to pull off ‘Master of Puppets’ if the need arises.

Check it out.

At the end of their impromptu performance in a tuning room, the members of Metallica told Quinn ‘you’re hired’ and drummer Ulrich announced that Metallica is ‘now a five-piece’ band.

OK, maybe they’re over-egging that particular pudding, but the short clip will no doubt delight fans of Stranger Things and Metallica alike.

Then, after they’d finished playing, the members of the thrash band presented Quinn with his very own special guitar, modelled on the one that he plays in the show.

They even agreed to sign it for him, although Hetfield joked that they might ‘f**k it up’ by doing so.

If anything, it’s likely that they added a new dimension to the collectability of the item, not that you’d imagine it will be going up for sale any time soon.

In addition to all of this, the band then presented Quinn with a pass that gets him into any place of any of Metallica’s shows.

Afterwards, Quinn said: "It was amazing! Opportunities to play 'Master of Puppets' with the most iconic metal band of all time don't come around very often,

"A story for the grandkids."

He’s spoken in the past about how excited he was to take on the scene, in which he stopped a load of monsters by jamming out, and said how happy he was that it has been so well received.

In fact, he’s described it as ‘heartwarming’ and ‘a completely overwhelming feeling’.

For the band’s part, Hetfield is obviously a fan of the show.

In the video, he said: “I’m a big fan of [Stranger Things].

“Have been since Season One,”

The guitar is pretty slick, too.

He continued: “My kids and I, it’s a bonding experience for us.”

Of the iconic track, Quinn said: “It’s all I was listening to for two years,

“I feel very connected to you guys.”
