First trailer for Loki season 2 has dropped

Loki is back for a second season, featuring Ke Huy Quan's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The trailer for the second season of Loki has dropped, with new star Ke Huy Quan making his debut on the show. Here's the trailer:

The Disney+ show is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name – as you probably already knew – and stars Tom Hiddleston as the titular mischief-maker.

The season will premiere on October 6 2023, and will feature a significant theme carrying on from season one.

You see, at the end of the first season a load of alternate Lokis were introduced, and that is set to continue for the second outing.

The TV series is a continuation of the successful Thor Marvel films that preceded it, and has won the hearts of critics and fans alike since touching down onto Disney’s streaming platform.

Hiddleston plays the shape-shifting God of Mischief, and when we last left him, as well as those alternate Lokis, we’d just seen Kang the Conqueror introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hiddleston first took on the role in 2011, playing the titular hero’s adopted brother.

However, he took the character out of the shadows of his on-screen brother and created the desire for Loki to be given his own platform.

That’s where this show comes in.

The series also stars Owen Wilson, who plays Mobius M. Mobius, as well as Eugene Cordero, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Tara Strong, and Rafael Casal, to name but a few.

The eponymous antihero will be continuing his work with the Time Variance Authority in this latest series, and the trailer finds him 'slipping through time' and teaming up with Mobius once more to tackle a mysterious new threat.

One cast member who has stepped into the MCU for the first time is Quan, who won grate acclaim for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, for which he won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

His character doesn’t have a name yet, but from his previous work we know that Quan is familiar with parallel universes, so he’ll have a headstart.

The season will run for six episodes, which have been penned by Eric Martin, who also worked on the first series.

Directors for the new series will include The Endless directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, with Michael Waldron sticking around as the show’s creator.

Obviously – because it is Marvel – Kevin Feige is involved as an executive producer, alongside fellow EPs Hiddleston, Waldron, Victoria Alonso, and Louis D’Esposito.

The new series – in case you missed the first prompt – will be available on Disney+ from October 6..
