Margot Robbie finally responds to Lady Gaga being cast as Harley Quinn in Joker 2

The Aussie actor has revealed exactly what she thinks about her replacement.

Margot Robbie has finally revealed her thoughts on Lady Gaga taking on her beloved character Harley Quinn for Joker 2.

Gaga will step into the wild shoes of Quinn in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux flick, with the singer and actor confirming back in August that she has been cast in the 2024 film.

Robbie has remained tight-lipped about the baton being passed on to Gaga... until now.

Robbie, Rami Malek, and John David Washington sat down with MTV News's Josh Horowitz to talk about their new film, Amsterdam.

But the conversation soon turned to the gossip that everyone wants to know: how does she feel about Gaga as Quinn?

"It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor," the Aussie actor told MTV.

"It’s such an honour to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing."

Robbie went on to sing the praises of Gaga, revealing she has high hopes for her as Quinn.

"I think she’ll do something incredible with it," she said.

Robbie told EW back in 2021 that she needs some time-off from playing Quinn, so it was no surprise when she was not cast in to play the criminal queen-pin.

"It was kind of back-to-back filming Birds... and filming [Suicide Squad], so I was kind of like, oof, I need a break from Harley because she's exhausting," Robbie told EW.

Gaga hasn't officially confirmed she will play the maniacal Quinn, but considering the only love interest the Joker has in the DC Comics is Harley Quinn, it's a safe bet that that is who Gaga will be playing.

As per the comics, Joker and Quinn meet at the Arkham Asylum, where Harley acts as the villain's psychotherapist.

She soon becomes entranced by the prisoner and joins him on his quest for madness and mayhem.

At the end of Joker, we saw Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) inside Arkham State Hospital before he makes his daring escape.

The Wrap reports Joker: Folie à Deux will be largely set in Arkham Asylum, so we could get to see how these two cement their relationship.

Folie à deux is a French term that means 'the shared madness of two'.

The film is set to be released on 4 October 2024.
