Joker 2 director shares incredible photos of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix in character

Filming has officially wrapped on the highly-anticipated sequel and we're one step closer to seeing the film.

The director behind the highly-anticipated Joker sequel has shared incredible photos of the two main stars in character.

We've already seen tidbits of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix filming together, however these close-up, high-resolution shots are absolutely to die for.

Not only has Todd Phillips given us an insight into what these two actors will look like on screen, he's also revealed the project has taken a huge step forward.

Posting on Instagram, Phillips said: "That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer.

"From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together."

Knowing that the filming is officially done has sent fans into a spin as they know we are one step closer to seeing Joker: Folie à Deux in the cinema.

The movie isn't expected to be released in theaters until 4 October 2024, so don't hold your breath on this one.

There's so much we don't know about the sequel, except for some of the cast.

In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, Zazie Beetz is returning as Sophie Dumond, the concerned neighbor of Arthur Fleck, as well as Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey.

Those roles haven't been revealed yet.

We also know that it's going to be a musical, which is handy when Gaga is one of the main stars.

She has been captured walking down the iconic Joker steps singing her lungs out, so it looks like we'll have a few musical numbers splice into the film.
