In what can only be described as a heartwarming moment, Indiana Jones legends Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan were reunited after nearly 40 years.

Ford and Quan portrayed the titular character and his sidekick Short Round in the 1984 hit Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

The pair's on-screen chemistry quickly became one of the most beloved aspects of the action film, so it's no surprise the fans were delighted when the actors reunited at Disney's D23 Expo over the weekend.

In a series of photos shared on Instagram by Lucasfilm and Quan himself, the duo can be seen embracing a whopping 38 years after having worked together.

And it's safe to say the love is still there, with both stars appearing with massive grins across their faces.

Alongside the snaps, the caption reads: "'I love you, Indy.' Indiana Jones and Short Round reunited after 38 years."

Thousands of people have commented on the post, with one writing: "This photo is EVERYTHING!!!"

FYI that's not the case – but it's nice to dream.

For now Ford is currently promoting Indiana Jones 5, having introduced the trailer at D23 alongside co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and director James Mangold.

As the trailer ended, the crowd applauded before the actor told fans about the latest instalment of the much-loved franchise.

"Indiana Jones movies are about fantasy and mystery, but they’re also about heart," he said. "We have a really great story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass."

Ford became emotional as he praised the work of his on-screen colleague Waller-Bridge, telling fans, "Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us."

"I’m very proud to say to say that this one is fantastic," he added, before pointing at Waller-Bridge and saying 'this is one of the reasons'.

As for Quan, the Everything Everywhere All at Once star was at the Expo where it was announced that he'd joined the cast for the second season of the MCU Disney+ series Loki.

Although they didn't reveal much about the character he'll be portraying, there's no doubt he'll bring his exceptional spirit to the role.
