Harry Potter fans could soon have some 'fresh' content coming their way as a result of Warner Bros.' merger with Discovery.

After saying goodbye to Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Harry Potter films more than a decade ago, fans have had to rely on other aspects of the Wizarding World to get their fill of new content.

Over the past few years, fans have followed the adventures of Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts series and had the chance to see the magic come to life on stage with Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, but the merger at Warner Bros. could pave the way for some more Potter-related content for fans to get wrapped up in.

The news comes from a Wall Street Journal report that addresses plans for Warner Bros. Discovery, particularly with regards to CEO and President David Zaslav.

According to people 'familiar with his thinking' cited in the report, Zaslav is looking to make 'fresh' content relating to Harry Potter to be released on HBO Max.

It's unclear exactly what 'fresh' would mean in relation to the Wizarding World; whether it would be a new take on Harry himself or some kind of spin-off based on the original story, but Zaslav is said to have plans to meet with author J.K. Rowling in the coming weeks to discuss the possibility for new content.

This is not the first time Warner Bros. heads have discussed the possibility of new Harry Potter content, with Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff saying in December last year the studio would 'love to develop more original Harry Potter series'.

The CEO revealed the studio 'regularly' talks to Rowling and her team, but stressed the creation of new content has 'got to be right'.

"Whatever we do has to be true to the canon, and true to the ethos of the Wizarding World and who Harry is," she added.

The previous March, Jason Kilar, the CEO of WarnerMedia, acknowledged that Harry Potter was 'one of the most beloved franchises' and said the company was 'incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling', adding: "I would argue there’s a lot of fun and potential there as well.”

Though the books and films of the Wizarding World continue to entertain people across the globe, Rowling herself has faced widespread backlash for her comments about the transgender community, prompting many to give up support of the author.
