Fan Points Out Incredible Costume Detail You Probably Missed In Lord Of The Rings

Fans have pointed out an incredible costume detail that you probably didn’t spot in the first Lord of the Rings movie, joking that Sauron has a ‘marketing department’ churning out ‘great design choices’ from Mordor.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a film many of us must have watched countless times since its release in 2001, having soon found ourselves able to quote pretty much every line.
But after all these years, some of you likely never noticed that the horses of Nazgul have an interesting design feature on their riding gear, which features a little nod to Sauron.

Sharing their find with Reddit, u/Martijngamer wrote: “The horses of the Nazgul in Lord of the Rings (2001) have the Eye of Sauron on their chest riding gear.”
The post has received nearly 40,000 upvotes, along with hundreds of comments from others admitting they’d never realised.
“I've watched LOTR countless times and never noticed it, wow,” one said.
Another commented: “Same! It is probably because I'm focused on the movement of the riders and horses heads.”
A third joked: “I love the idea of Sauron having a marketing department. Great design choices from Mordor.”
One admired the ‘Sauron swag’, while another quipped: “Maybe it’s Mordor, maybe it’s Maybelline.”
Someone else added: “And thousands of years later the illuminati will steal the design and slap it on a pyramid. But we all know who originally wore The Eye.”
Later this year, fans will be able to return to Middle Earth when the franchise’s new TV series launches on Amazon.
The Rings of Power will ‘take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness’, with a synopsis saying:
“Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.
“From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”
Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay said they could imagine the title ‘living on the spine of a book next to J.R.R. Tolkien’s other classics’.
In a press release they explained: “The Rings of Power unites all the major stories of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring – but before there was one, there were many… and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all.”
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres on Amazon Prime on 2 September 2022.
