Emilia Clarke has confirmed that Kit Harington is set to reprise his role as Jon Snow in a new spin off series.

The actress who played the iconic Daenerys Targaryen revealed how she has spoken to her former co star Harington about the upcoming sequel.

Speaking to BBC News, Clarke said: "He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It's happening."

Clarke also shared details of Harington's role in the development of the show. She said: "“It’s been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.”

The upcoming series is not the only Game of Thrones spin-off show set to hit screens. HBO is also releasing House of Dragons, focusing on the Targaryen family two centuries before the events of Game Of Thrones. The show is set to premiere on 21 August 2022.

Clarke starred alongside Harington in Game of Thrones as based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire novels. The hit show ran for almost a decade between 2011 and 2019.

Despite not reprising her role as the Mother of Dragons, Clarke has shared her excitement for the prequel. She said: "It's going to be weird as hell. I’m going to watch this as a fresh viewer because it’s [set] a be-jillion years before our show, so it’s going to feel different.”

Other shows that are confirmed to be in the works are Dunk And Egg, The Sea Snake and Ten Thousand Ships. There are also three animated shows currently in works, including The Golden Empire, which will take viewers to the land of Yi Ti.

While Harington will be busy working on the new show, Clarke will be joining the MCU, which Harington also joined when he appeared in 2021's Eternals. The actress is set to star in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion which is expected to revolve around Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos.

Speaking on on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Clarke joked that she is already scared about keeping the show's secrets.

However Clarke is excited to be working on the new series. She added: "To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’ Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”
