Cast For Black Mirror Season Six Has Been Revealed And It's Got People Excited

Black Mirror fans were left feeling some type of way when the season six cast list was announced

Black Mirror fans were left feeling some type of way on Wednesday (13 July) when the season six cast list was announced.

Charlie Brooker’s dystopian smash-hit will soon make its long-awaited return, and the show’s sixth season will feature the likes of Aaron Paul, Josh Hartnett, Paapa Essiedu, Kate Mara and Zazie Beetz.

Fans rushed to Twitter to express their excitement, with one person exclaiming: “AARON PAUL IN A BLACK MIRROR EPISODE WE F*****G WON!”

Another echoed: “Aaron Paul is cast in an episode of the new season of Black Mirror, awesome”, while a third added: “I don’t care about Black Mirror. I just care about you all rediscovering Josh Hartnett.”

“So excited for a new season of #BlackMirror,” penned another social media user, while someone else gushed: “WHAT THE HELL.... Aaron Paul/Josh Hartnett, Zazie Beetz, Kate Mara ou Danny Ramirez. OH MY [fire emoji].”

News of the show’s sixth season was first reported on by Variety, with the outlet noting that the show is thought to be in production and will be released on Netflix.

The current casting list will span three episodes, and more actors will be announced to star in another three.

It was confirmed earlier this year that the show would return.

Variety revealed last year that a sixth season was in the works, and that it promised to be 'even more cinematic in scope, with each instalment being treated as an individual film'.

Season five of the dystopian, nightmarish show had an equally envious cast, with appearances from Andrew Scott, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Anthony Mackie, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus.

The new series will be the first since the show's creators, Brooker and Annabel Jones, left their production company, House of Tomorrow, back in 2020.

Speaking to Radio Times in 2020, Brooker admitted Black Mirror’s future was uncertain as he was unsure about ‘what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart’.

"I've been busy doing things. I don't know what I can say about what I'm doing and not doing," he explained.

"At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those.

"I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh."

Either way, Black Mirror fans are already hotly anticipating the upcoming new season.
