Brie Larson says she barely ever gets recognized in public

MCU's Brie Larson has admitted that she hardly ever gets recognized in public, but is that such a bad thing?

There's no doubt that Brie Larson is a big name in the film industry and Hollywood, after an impressive launch into the business.

What really boosted the actor onto the scene was the 2012 independent drama Short Term, where she starred in a leading role.

Since then, Larson has picked up many awards such as winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Room at the 2016 Oscars.

The actor has also scooped a Primetime Emmy award in 2020, a BAFTA in 2016 and two BFCC awards, just to name a few.

And of course, many film fanatics know her for being an important figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she has featured in Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and soon to add to that list will be The Marvels, where Larson is set to play a starring role.

With that, you'd probably put Larson down as a reputable actor in Hollywood, maybe not one of the biggest, but certainly famous enough to be regarded as a Hollywood actor.

Despite that, Larson has recently revealed how she actually doesn't get noticed in public that often.

Speaking to Harpers Bazaar, Larson told the story of how she went to see a friend perform in A Streetcar Named Desire in London and somehow went completely unnoticed as she stood next to her friend signing autographs.

"I was just standing there, and he was like, ‘How is this possible?’," she recalled.

Larson also opened up on being recognized, or lack of it, in a conversation with Mike Birbiglia on his podcast, Working It Out.

She said: "If I’m checking out at the grocery store, I don’t get recognized.

"I get ‘Are you friends with my cousin?’ I am the classic face of ‘friend of your cousin.’"

But while some celebs might feel a bit hard done by the fact they aren't recognized in public, Larson is actually very grateful for her anonymity.

"I want to be in reality. I love reality. It's all I want," she said.

"My biggest fear is to not be in reality. It matters so much to me. I don't wear super-flashy clothes when I'm out in the world because I want to stay in reality.

"I'm very good at confrontation in my relationships because I want to be in reality. I want to be in what's as close to what's true as possible."
