A teenager has remarkably cut off her adoptive parents after they turned up late to her graduation because they bought a 'rare' Labubu doll for her sister.

The fluffy and slightly ugly-looking Labubu is absolutely everywhere right now, as both children and adults clammer to get their hands on one.

Over 48 million Labubu searches were made on Google in the past month, while 'Labubu fake' searches reached almost 500,000.

The toy has come a long way since it was launched in collaboration with Chinese toy company Pop Mart six years ago, to the point where it is now breaking up families.

An 18-year-old woman explained on Reddit that she's cut off her adoptive parents after they missed the majority of her graduation to buy their biological daughter a Labubu.

The anonymous teenager explained how her adoptive parents had fertility struggles when they adopted her as a baby, but welcomed a 'miracle' newborn eight years later in the form of Princess, who is now 10.

"Princess was spoiled and clearly the favorite. She never got in trouble, was always right, got WHATEVER she wanted and acted HOWEVER she wanted," the 18-year-old explained on Reddit.

"Now I have a car and a boyfriend (since sophomore year). I stay with him a lot and his family loves me so I’m barely home, maybe 24 hours at most weekly. My parents didn’t care and this was my normal so I stopped caring too."

Her parents' love for Princess was certainly evident on the teen's graduation day as they prioritised the young daughter's obsession with Labubu over the big day itself.

She continued: "See her current obsession are these doll plush keychains called Labubus, she collects them and that specific day, she found this super rare one for sale in our city.

"Now instead of contacting the seller and buying it the next day, my parents went to go get it."

Such venture meant the parents missed a large chunk of the graduation, leaving the teenager utterly distraught.

What only added insult to injury was that the parents spent a whopping $350 on the Labubu, while splashing out $150 on a graduation present.

The Redditor added: "I was hurt. After graduation, I ignored them and went home with my boyfriend. I’ve basically moved in with him at this point since anytime I went back 'home' it was to get my things to go back.

"My parents called, texted, apologized, even came over and begged me to forgive them, worst part of it all, they think it’s the money and sent me another hundred dollars. I refused to talk to them."

Is a Labubu really that important?
