Singer of viral 'Jet2 Holidays' song slams White House for using it for 'sick' deportation video

The Jet2 Holidays meme has been used by the White House in recent days

Jess Glynne has slammed the Trump administration after the official White House social media account jumped on the Jet2 Holidays bandwagon.

For those unaware, Jet2 is a budget airline that operates in the UK offering flights out to destinations across Europe.

But anyone who has ventured onto TikTok in recent weeks will be well aware of the 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' soundbite, which plays over a snippet of Glynne's song 'Hold My Hand'.

The viral audio is taken from a commercial promoting a discount on family vacations and 'package holidays you can trust'. If you know, you know.

On the likes of TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, the sound has been used for videos depicting travel fails and just general shenanigans.

The lighthearted meme has become a victim of its own success in recent days however, as the official White House account used the soundbite with a video of passengers being loaded onto a deportation flight.

"When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. Nothing beats it!" the White House captioned the video.

The clip sees a number of handcuffed men being loaded onto a flight by armed officers, before cutting to a clip of Donald Trump pointing at the camera and giving a thumbs-up.

Glynne took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday (July 30) to detail her annoyance the meme had been used by the White House in such a way.

The singer said: "This post honestly makes me sick. My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity – never about division or hate."

Zoe Lister, who voices the iconic soundbite, has also issued taken to Instagram to condemn the White House's use of the meme.

"What can be done about @whitehouse using @jet2pics sound and my voiceover to promote their nasty agenda?" the voiceover actor wrote on her Story.

Many flocked to the comments section of the White House's Twitter post in disbelief that an official government account posted such a video.

"I thought this was a parody account," one person said, while a second added: "Our country is an embarrassment posting s**t like this."

The controversial social media post comes just a matter of weeks after unrest broke out on the streets of Los Angeles in response to US Immigration and Customs (ICE) conducting a number of raids across the Californian city in search of undocumented migrants.

The Trump administration had previously pledged to detain as many as 3,000 people per day.
