The woman behind the confused maths meme has just come out as bisexual.

When social media was still in its early days, there were a whole bunch of memes making their rounds on the internet, with their legacies still remaining strong to this day.

From Bad Luck Brian all the way through to Hide the Pain Harold - there's some memes that just seem to stick, and that's been exactly the case for the iconic confused maths woman meme.

According to Know Your Meme, the earliest known use of the image was a whole decade ago back in 2013.

While we may know her for her four side-splitting facial expressions desperately trying to make sense of a maths equation, the woman in question Renata Sorrah is actually a Brazilian actor.

Now 76 years old, the Brazilian telenovela actor gained widespread acclaim for her incredibly portrayal of one of the most famous villains of the genre, Nazaré Tedesco, in Senhora do Destino (2004–2005) and the character of Heleninha Roitman in Vale Tudo (1988).

While the program is largely famous within just Brazil, it's clear the viral meme totally transcended borders, language and culture.

And now, the talented actor has come out as bisexual while attending a performance of a play starring trans actress Renata Carvalho.

According to the Brazilian newspaper Extra, the woman was in the audience of Manifesto Transpofágico, a personal and political commentary on the lived experience of trans women in the modern day.

During a Q&A event of the evening, the outlet reported: "When Renata Carvalho asked who in the audience was bisexual… Renata Sorrah, sitting in the second row of the theatre, made a point of raising her arm."

The news soon made its rounds on social media first being dubbed as 'incredibly bisexual news' on Twitter with fans of the telenovela, meme, actor and/or just those within the LGBTQ+ community flocking to share their reactions.

A third echoed: "BISEXUAL AND CANT DO MATH FINALLY REPRESENTATION FOR ME."

"The bisexual representation we deserve," wrote a fourth.

A final Twitter user added: "I love this meme EVEN MORE NOW."

From her decade-spanning acting career to her iconic meme legacy - it's clear Renata Sorrah has truly solidified her status as an LGBTQ+ cultural icon.
