McDonald's is bringing the McRib back for the last time ever

This is it, guys. Prepare yourselves. The McRib is coming back, but like Elton John on his Yellow Brick Road Tour, it's said to be for the last time.

(To the tune of 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road') So goodbye tasty McRib, with your tangy BBQ sauce. Delicious slivered onions and toasted homestyle bun. Back to the regular menu, with the nuggets, Big Mac and fries, oh we've finally decided our future lies, without the tasty McRib.

Now give yourself a pat on the back for that rendition and wipe away the tears, because yes, it's true.

McDonald's announced the return of its beloved McRib in the US this week, announcing on Twitter that it would be making a comeback as a Halloween treat from October 31.

However, the good news came with a caveat: "This is its farewell tour."

On its website, McDonald's advises fans to 'get one while you can', before the McRib is torn away from us forever, adding: "Order yours in the McDonald’s app for delivery or pickup. Enjoy our famous pork sandwich as if it’s your last!"

Now, I should point out that McDonald's fans, and especially McRib fans, are used to the popular bbq sandwich coming and going.

The sandwich isn't a permanent fixture on the menu, and has for years returned to the fast food restaurant for stints of a few weeks before disappearing once again, leaving customers wishing they'd had more before they'd gone.

However, McDonald's doesn't typically brand these returns as 'tours', let alone 'farewell tours'. So could it really be the end? Some internet users aren't so sure, and have likened the McRib to some other famous things which have previously claimed to be saying goodbye, only to pop up again for a 'comeback' a few years later.

Responding to the news of the McRib's imminent arrival and upcoming departure, The Simpsons showrunner Bill Oakley wrote: "If you believe this "Farewell Tour" is actually the end of McRib, I have a Mexican Pizza and a Wingstop Chicken Sandwich and Brooklyn Bridge to sell you."

Other fans of the sandwich simply appear to be in denial about the notion of it going away forever, with one Twitter user commenting: "@McDonalds Please be joking w/ this ‘Farewell Tour’ for the McRib ... we’re OK w/ having to say goodbye for extensive periods of time, but Forever shouldn’t be apart of that."

McDonald's reminded fans that the McRib will only be available in the US.

With a main filling of seasoned boneless pork dipped in a tangy BBQ sauce, the McRib is accessorised with slivered onions and dill pickles served on a toasted homestyle bun.

We can hold out hope that its upcoming return won't be its last, but I'd advise you to make the most of it while you can.
