A server has started a debate about how different generations leave tables when departing a restaurant.

Have you ever pondered how different generations behave when they dine out?

Maybe not as a customer, but as a server, it’s pretty hard to go unnoticed.

Waitress Kaitlyn Brande stirred up a debate on social media after observing how ‘boomers’ behave while out as opposed to Gen Z’s in a restaurant setting.

She took to TikTok, and created a viral video displaying the difference between what happens when each generation has left the table… and the results? Well, take a look.

She starts the clip by showing a table left by five ‘boomers’.

She starts the clip by showing a table she claims was left by five ‘boomers’. It was untidy, and appeared as though they had just left the table how they ended the meal.

The next table to the right was allegedly a table of six Gen Z’s, where the table was completely different.

The plates were stacked and the table was neat and tidy.

She captioned the video, which now has over 1 million likes, saying: “They get paid to do that VS we know restaurant life is hard here, let us help you out.”

Surprisingly, a lot of the commenters didn’t seem to sympathize with the waitress.

One said: “It’s not a customer's job to clean the table… don’t be lazy.

“I have worked in the industry and never expected anyone to do my job.”

Another said: “What are you saying though?

“It’s your job either way, just saying.”

However, fellow servers came to back her up in the comments, with one saying: “It doesn’t matter even if they do get paid for it, it helps staff out especially if it is hella busy and they don’t get as much money as you think.”

Another added: “There is definitely a difference between generations!!

“I always stack and clean up and leave a good tip.

“I know what it’s like.”

However, one customer questioned whether stacking the plates was even helpful at all.

They wrote: “I have gotten mixed opinions for service staff saying that stacking doesn’t help sometimes.

“It depends on the place.”

Following the viral video, in an interview with Buzzfeed, Kaitlyn said: “I posted it because I thought it was ironic since older people always expect respect.

“I'm not saying I expect people to ever stack their plates like that, because hey, I'm a person too.

“I want to go out and eat and not worry about the dishes or anything.

“All I'm saying is it was cool and helpful of the younger people, and I appreciated it.”
