A mom is utterly convinced her son is the reincarnation of a baseball icon.

Cathy Byrd, of Southern California, is adamant that her son Christian Haupt, now in his teens, is the reincarnation of New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig... and apparently he 'has details to substantiate it'.

OK, yesterday (October 22) we heard how a young boy believed he used to be a woman called Pam Robinson who died during a hotel fire in Chicago back in 1993, the day before that we heard another child claim he died onboard the Titanic.

Now, we've got a baseball legend whose come back from the dead - it's enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

At the age of just two years old, Byrd suspected something was up when her son Christian began to share 'vivid memories' of his life as a baseball player from the 1920s and '30s.

During an interview with Inside Edition she recalled the moment Christian got emotional when he saw an old photo of a 'former teammate'.

Byrd said: "He saw a big picture of Babe Ruth on the wall and got visibly upset by this picture and said mommy he was mean to me."

She then showed him a team photo of the famed 1927 New York Yankees - which Gehrig was a part of before he fell ill and died at the young age of just 37.

"Do you see anyone in this photo that doesn't like Babe Ruth, and he immediately pointed at a guy with dimples and said that's me [Lou Gehrig]," she explained.

When asked by an Inside Edition reporter if Christian 'honestly believes that' he lived a past life as Gehrig, who fell ill with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) - a neurological disorder that affects motor neurons, he replied: "Yes."

Like Gehrig, Christian is left-handed and his swing looks similar too.

Byrd was then asked: "Do you worry that people will think you're crazy?"

She replied: "OK, well as a mother when your son comes to you and emphatically declares that he was this person and has details to substantiate it, it's hard to deny that."

The outlet also reported how Byrd herself believed she was the reincarnation of Lou Gehrig's mom.

Byrd has even written a book about her son, titled The Boy Who Knew Too Much: An Astounding True Story of a Young Boy's Past-Life Memories, which is available to purchase on Amazon.

Judging by Christian's YouTube channel he's still a keen baseball player, though whether he remains convinced he was Lou Gehrig in a former life remains to be seen.
