The parents of a four-year-old girl have died in a hotel bathtub after a planned evening of partying for her birthday in Brazil.
Jeferson Luiz Sagaz, 37 and Ana Carolina Silva, 41, were recently celebrating their daughter's birthday at a food park, enjoying some food and drink.
Come the evening, the couple decided to go out clubbing, with Jefferson and Ana leaving their young child with the former's sister.
Military police officer Jeferson and nail salon owner Ana checked into the Dallas Motel in São José, Brazil, shortly after midnight on 11 August, in preparation for a big night of boozing ahead.

However, concerns were raised when the couple never returned to pick up their daughter the next day, which prompted their worried family to contact police.
Authorities then investigated their disappearance, and tragically discovered their corpses in the motel room they'd checked into.

CCTV footage was throughly checked by officials, and it was later discovered that the parents had passed out in a bathtub that was filled with 50°C water.

A subsequent toxicology examination found that high levels of alcohol and traces of cocaine were found in their bloodstreams, according to Globo G1.
Brazilian Chief Medical Examiner Andressa Boer Fronza stated: “The cause of both deaths was exogenous poisoning, favouring the process of heatstroke with intense dehydration, thermal collapse, culminating in organ failure and death.
"In other words, this death occurred due to multifactorial conditions."
16 forensic tests were carried out to rule out possible causes of death such as drowning, carbon monoxide, foul play, or electric shock.

But after authorities said a space heater was blasting heat into the room, it was concluded that heat was the cause of the couple's tragic deaths.
“It may be that the physical constitution, both his and hers, were not compatible with the use of a substance like that, especially when combined with alcohol,” Chief Simão added.
He added: "The big issue raised in the statements we took, talking to people involved in this, is that they did not have the habit of using cocaine."
