Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel answer all the questions everyone regularly asks them

From whether they want kids to how they drive a car, plenty of people had questions for Abby and Brittany Hensel

Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel have been back in the headlines after Abby got married, and people have a lot of questions about their life.

The twins were born in 1990 and share one body, including all their organs below the waist and their blood supply.

Abby and Brittany were subjects of a show on TLC called Abby and Brittany, and also made an appearance being interviewed on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Their public profile has led people to have a lot of questions for the pair about their day to day lives.

Among them was questions about how to form a relationship, which came to the fore after Abby married Josh Bowling.

The 34-year old twins hit back at hateful comments they received online by posting: "This is a message to all the haters out there. If you don't like what I do, but you watch everything I'm doing, you're still a fan."

Here's what the pair revealed about their day to day lives.

Job and education

Abby and Brittany obtained separate degrees from Bethel University, and work as elementary school teachers.

While both of them work, they are paid one salary between them.

Speaking about this, Abby told the BBC: “Obviously right away we understand that we are going to get one salary because we're doing the job of one person.

“As maybe experience comes in we'd like to negotiate a little bit, considering we have two degrees and because we are able to give two different perspectives or teach in two different ways."

Brittany added: “One can be teaching and one can be monitoring and answering questions. So in that sense we can do more than one person."

How do they eat?

The twins will sometimes have separate meals, and have two stomachs and two upper digestive systems.

However, they do have one bladder and they share their lower digestive system, including excretion.

This means that sharing a meal is often more convenient for them.

Driving a car

Abby and Brittany can drive a car, and passed their test on their 16th birthday.

Brittany explained: "Abby takes over the pedals and the shifter, we both steer, and I take over the blinker and the lights."

Their mother Patty added: "I don't know what would happen if they got pulled over for speeding.

"Would they each get a ticket or just Abby because it's her foot on the accelerator?"

Can they have children?

The twins have said that they do want to become moms.

Mom Patty said in Joined for Life: "That is probably something that could work because those organs do work for them."

Brittany added: "Yeah, we're going to be moms."
