Travis Barker Went To Robert Kardashian Sr's Grave To Ask For Permission To Marry Kourtney

Travis Barker visited Robert Kardashian Sr's grave before asking Kourtney Kardashian to marry him to ‘ask permission’. 

Travis, 46, proposed to Kourtney, 43, late last year but before he popped the question he kept up the age-old tradition of seeking her parents’ permission beforehand. 

During a recent episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney’s mum Kris Jenner opened up about her future son-in-law's preparation for the proposals. 

She said: "He asked for her hand in marriage, and I was like, literally, ‘I want to cry now’.  

“It was so sweet and so tender. And then he said he went to your dad's grave and asked your dad [for permission], and I just lost it."

She then tearfully added: "It's all happy, I just wish your dad was here to see it. I can hardly believe that it's the first time that she's getting married."

At this point, three-time married Kim Kardashian cut in to say: "That's really crazy that she hasn't been married before", before joking: "While I've had enough for all of us!"

The loved-up couple got engaged in October last year with a romantic beach proposal surrounded by red roses and candles. 

Sharing ten new photos from the engagement via Instagram, Kourtney wrote: "I woke up all night thinking it was a dream", with loved-up Travis quickly replying: "forever with you is a dream come true."

A friend of the couple told PEOPLE at the time: "It was a complete surprise for Kourtney. Travis told her family that he planned to propose, but everyone was great at keeping it secret. The Rosewood is their favourite for short weekend getaways. They often stay at the hotel. This is why Travis proposed there. It's a very special place to them, but it was also easier to keep everything a secret by proposing there.”

The pair, who have been friends for years, are thought to have started dating in January last year. 

The couple have also shared their dream to expand their family - Travis already has two kids, while Kourtney is a mum to three - but in an episode of The Kardashians it was revealed that the pair are undergoing IVF in an attempt to conceive. 

Kourtney has been frank about her experiences, and in an episode of the show she revealed: "Travis and I want to have a baby, and so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF, and it hasn't been the most amazing experience."
