Tom Grennan Hospitalised After Being Assaulted And Robbed Following NYC Show

The singer has had to postpone one of his upcoming performances while he recovers

Let's Go Home Together singer Tom Grennan has been hospitalised following an 'unprovoked attack and robbery' in New York City.

The singer-songwriter, who is currently on tour, was in the city to perform at The Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday night (20 April).

He is said to have been outside a bar in Manhattan after the show when he became 'the victim of an unprovoked attack' in the early hours of Thursday morning.

In a statement released on Instagram, Grennan's manager John Dawkins said the 26-year-old was taken to hospital after the attack to be assessed by doctors for his injuries. He suffered a 'ruptured ear, town ear-drum and issue with his previously fractured jaw', the statement said.

Grennan is assured to be 'in good spirits', but needs to 'temporarily recuperate whilst doctors asses his ability to continue with his touring'.

"Tom is desperate not to let anyone down, however we have taken the precautionary decision to postpone the Washington show tomorrow to a later date, with details to follow. We will update on future shows should changes be made.

"We wish to thank Tom's incredible US fans and their support and understanding," the statement continued.

Grennan kicked off his tour in Minneapolis on 14 April and following his postponed Washington appearance today (22 April) was scheduled to perform in Boston tomorrow. It is currently unclear whether the Boston show will go ahead.

The singer has been inundated with messages since sharing the news, with both fans and fellow artists sharing their shock and well-wishes.

Singer-songwriter Becky Hill commented, "holy f**k tom i’m so sorry wtf that’s awful!!!", while television presenter Laura Whitmore responded: "OH God Tom I’m just seeing this! Jesus hope you’re ok. Sending love."

Another comment reads: "Sending you all the love in the world Tom."

Grennan shared a number of videos from his performance in New York prior to the attack and just hours earlier had posted images of himself standing under a road crossing sign and performing in front of a crowd, writing: "The big apple. you lot are magic."

The singer is set to conclude the US leg of his tour in Los Angeles on 27 April before returning to Europe and finishing his tour at the Superbloom festival in Munich Germany on 4 September. This year, Grennan earned a nomination for an Ivor Novello award this year for his song Let's Go Home Together, which he performs with Ella Henderson.
