Ryan Reynolds' shocked reaction after incredible gesture from Shania Twain mid-song

Ryan Reynolds had a fantastic reaction after Shania Twain swapped out the lyrics for her song 'That Don’t Impress Me Much' while performing live.

Twain was at the People’s Choice Awards last night (Tuesday December 6) where she performed a medley of her songs, including her hit 1997 'That Don’t Impress Me Much', which the singer gave a bit of a pop culture update.

As you’re probably aware, the song has Twain listing a bunch of factors that don't particularly impress her, such as someone being a rocket scientist (pretty impressive, if you ask me), having a car (that’s not that impressive, to be honest) or being Brad Pitt (I think this one is quite impressive).

But during her performance last night, she swapped Pitt for her fellow Canadian star Reynolds - singing: “So, you’re Ryan Reynolds?”

At this point, the camera cut to Reynolds who could be seen mouthing: “Oh my God, me?” I can’t help but wonder if Pitt managed to catch the performance and how he feels about the whole thing.

Ryan Reynolds seemed pretty impressed himself when he heard the new lyrics.

Regardless, viewers watching at home thought the switch up was great, with one writing: “The reaction Ryan had after Shania Twain said ‘okay so you’re Ryan Reynolds?’”

Another said: “Shania Twain singing, ‘so you’re Ryan Reynolds’ I am f***ing screaming.”

While a third joked: “Shania Twain saying ‘okay so you’re Ryan Reynolds’ now instead of ‘okay so you’re Brad Pitt’ brings so much joy to my cold Canadian tundra heart.”

Someone else posted: “Shania Twain changed the lyrics for a new show but she can never go back. This has to be the new lyrics forever now." I agree.

Twain was given the Music Icon Award at last night’s ceremony, with the singer saying it was ‘a privilege and dream’.

She used her acceptance speech to thank fans, before paying a touching tribute to her mother Sharon Morrison, who died in 1987 when Twain was just 22.

She said: ‘I always miss my mother at these moments in my life. She would have loved watching her little girl living this moment right now, but my fans and team, you are the ones who really fill that space when- not my mother’s space, but just that you are here with me and celebrating and you make me feel loved and special.

"I will always be grateful for that. Thank you.”
