Robert Downey Jr is up there with some of the most famous actors in the world. The 57-year-old is probably most known for his role as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but he has, of course, acted in a number of other iconic movies, such as Tropic Thunder and the 2009 Sherlock Holmes.
The star's latest venture is his role in the 2023 biographical film Oppenheimer.

However, it hasn’t always been this way for the iconic actor, as he was ‘only’ paid $500,000 for the first Iron Man, which is incomparable to his later salaries.
For example, he made $10 million for Iron Man 2, with back-end points, and a whopping $70 million for Iron Man 3.

It wasn’t until 2003 when his friend Mel Gibson managed to get him a role in The Singing Detective that Downey Jr managed to return to the screen.
