People Left Shocked After Finding Out Millie Bobby Brown Has An English Accent

Fans of Stranger Things have been left shocked after learning that Millie Bobby Brown has an English accent.

The 18-year-old has been busy promoting the latest instalment of the Duffer brother’s sci-fi series and it seems like some viewers have only realised that she puts on an Indiana accent to play Eleven.

Her appearance on First We Feast’s YouTube show Hot Ones has sparked the latest reaction online – and oh my, has the penny just dropped. Watch below:

One commented on Twitter: "I dunno how I never knew Millie Bobby Brown has a British accent before I watched Hot Ones."

"MILLIE BOBBY BROWN IS BRITISH????" another penned. “I just heard millie bobby brown speak for the first time and shes BRITISH ????” (sic).

A fourth added: “I just found out Millie Bobby Brown is British and I don’t know how to take this information????” (sic).

“Watching Hot Ones with Millie Bobby Brown and had no idea she was British this whole time,” a stunned fan shared.

Although many were taken aback by her real accent, one fan in the know calmly wrote: "How do people not know that Millie Bobby Brown is British? I can tell just by her name alone."

Despite Millie being a proud Brit - and Liverpool football fan - she was actually born in Marbella, Spain, but moved back to the UK with her family to live in Bournemouth when she was four.

The star and her family moved to Florida when she eight-year-old, before they upped sticks again and headed to Los Angeles so she could start her acting career.

Understandably the actress’ English accent has a slight American twang, given her years living over the other side of the pond, and admitted she had to re-learn how to speak when portraying Enola Holmes in the Netflix film of the same name.

She told the Radio Times: "For the last five years I’ve been playing an American character in Stranger Things, and I found it really challenging being British in this, even though I am a Brit.

"I had to learn how to speak again because I’m so used to speaking in an American accent."

Although she’s been doing an American accent on screen for years, Millie admitted her favourite British accent is a Liverpudlian, which shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since she’s a die-hard fan of their football team.

She told Hot Ones host Sean Evans: “I love a Liverpudlian accent. Anyone from Liverpool sounds cool. I can't do the accent so don't ask me, but I support the football team Liverpool and... I love a Liverpudlian accent.”
