Travis Kelce explains why he 'told Taylor Swift's security to step aside' on dates with singer

Travis Kelce has clarified why he asked Taylor Swift's security to 'step aside' while the pair were on dates.

The NFL player and Taylor Swift have been seen out and about together a number of times, and have certainly given the internet a lot to talk about.

Swift, 33, and Kelce, 34, have delighted fans with how sweet they've been looking together in recent weeks, and Kelce's seeming protective behaviour has only added to it.

One incident which has cemented the pair being together happened when the pair were out and about together.

Swift had been getting her car and her security guard went to open the door for her, as is usual. But Kelce wanted to take things into his own hands, and indicated to the security guard that he would be opening the door for Swift by gently placing his hand on his back.

Of course, if he'd done it less gently things might have gone very differently.

Well, the NFL star explained what actually happened in the latest episode of his podcast.

He said: “I didn’t push him. I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I would have pushed him, he probably would have turned around and tased me.”

He added: “[It was like], ‘Good sir, would you excuse me? I need to get the door. Sorry. Right behind you. Don’t want to startle you.

"I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away, and if you get randomly pushed in the back while standing in front of a door, that could probably be a little alarming,’"

Kelce explained that he often feels a little 'protective' on dates.

He said: “I feel like whenever I’m on a date, I’m always having the sense of like, ‘I'm a man in this situation.’ I'm protective, yeah, for sure.

“You always kind of have that feeling or that self-awareness, I guess.”

And Swift's fans appear to have granted a seal of approval to Kelce. Given that Swifties are renowned for their protectiveness of their favourite singer, this could be quite an achievement.

One fan posted: "The way Travis puts his hand on the security guards back to say that he’s opening the door for Taylor. The way Travis puts his hand on Taylor’s waist to keep her close whilst he’s closing the car door!

"The gentleman that is Travis Kelce Tay is finally getting QUEEN treatment."

Another wrote: "He was like “i’ll open the door for her” to the bodyguard. and the way Taylor grabbed his hand after he shut the door my god."
