Writing on Twitter, Zak wrote: “Dad, on what would be your 73rd birthday, I remember you for all the hope and joy you brought to the world,” he wrote on the Twitter post.

“There's not a week that goes by without someone sharing with me how you helped them through a dark time or a rough patch. I'm so grateful to be your son. Love you forever.”

Fans of Zak’s father continued with the praise for the actor and comedian in the comment’s section.

“There was no one remotely like him- before or since. What a gift he was!. Im so sorry for your loss - and ours,” one user wrote.

“Zak, while I don’t recall dark times, my childhood was excellent and a large part of that is due to your dad. He was an absolute inspiration, one I still look up to today. He reminds me that life is fun, and to this day, his is the model I strive to be for my kids,” another grateful fan added.
