Robin Williams' son pays tribute to late father on anniversary of his death

He shared a photo to illustrate his dad's trademark comedic side

Robin Williams’ son has paid tribute to his late father on the ninth anniversary of his death, having posted a hilarious picture illustrating the actor’s ‘most excellent fashion choices’.

Williams tragically died on 11 August, 2014 at the age of 63, having taken his own life.

Just a few months before his death, the actor had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but an autopsy later found he had undiagnosed Lewy body dementia - the second-most common type of dementia after Alzheimer's disease.

It’s now been nine years since Williams passed away, with son Zak saying it still feels ‘hard’ even after all this time.

But he has also celebrated his father’s humorous side, posting a picture of Williams at the Mercedes-Benz Cup celebrity tennis match at the UCLA Tennis Courts in Westwood, California, back in 1999.

“Dad, on the 9th anniversary of your passing, I'm remembering you for your most excellent fashion choices,” he wrote in a Twitter post.

“These days are always hard and I love remembering you for being so very, very YOU. Love you so much!”

The tennis event saw Williams and fellow actor Billy Crystal team up with sporting greats Andre Agassi And Pete Sampras for a 15-minute charity match.

Williams decided to swerve the tennis gear and opt for an oversized t-shirt, bucket hat and cargo shorts – which he ended up briefly being rolled up to his crotch to reveal his thighs, much to the amusement of the crowd.

At another point, Williams stopped the action and chucked his racket on the floor, calling out to the other players: “One moment! I just need to prepare! One moment!”

This time, he proceeded to yank his shorts up so high that the waistband sat around his armpits, as the crowd laughed on at his trademark oddball comedy.

Last month, Zak also remembered his father on what would have been his 72nd birthday, celebrating his ‘joyous’ nature.

“Happy 72nd Dad!” the loving son wrote, sharing a screengrab from Good Morning Vietnam, one of his father’s most famous films.

“Was remembering how much I used to love that look you'd give. That look with a mischievous, loving grin that your friends and loved ones knew so well. Joyous and curious and wondrous.

"Miss you and love you forever!”
