Eva Mendes explains why she and Ryan Gosling never walk the red carpet together

Eva Mendes explains why she and Ryan Gosling never walk the red carpet together

Ryan Gosling attended the 2024 Oscars last night however fellow actor and partner Eva Mendes wasn't by his side for the red carpet

Eva Mendes has addressed why she and Ryan Gosling aren't spotted together at red carpet events.

Ryan Gosling attended last night's (10 March) 96th Annual Awards Ceremony, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Greta Gerwig's Barbie.

As well as taking to the stage to perform a rendition of 'I'm Just Ken,' the actor also walked the red carpet, however, instead of taking partner Eva Mendes along with him, he was joined by members of his family.

But it turns out there's a reason why he's not often spotted at such events with Mendes.

As well as dancing the night away up on stage with some fellow Barbie cast members, Gosling appeared on the red carpet with his sister Mandi, as well as his mom Donna and stepfather Valerio Attanasio.

Mendes shared a video to Instagram showing herself backstage by Gosling's dressing room offering support ahead of the ceremony. However, when it came to the red carpet event, she skipped an appearance with her beau on the carpet.

And a social media post she shared last year points to the reason why.

On 6 April, Mendes shared a clip from her and Gosling's 2012 movie A Place Beyond the Pines.

The caption reads: "Magic is Real. We did not meet on set. The magic started way before but here's a little magic captured on camera. Gracias to the increíble director Derek Cianfrance."

In the comments, a fan wrote: "I really hope 'Barbie' will get through the Awards Season just to see you w Ryan."

Mendes responded praising the 'cool comment' and telling the fan they're 'the best' but noting she and Gosling 'don't do those things together'.

She continued: "Like these photos I've been posting, Im only comfortable posting because it's already out there."

And in another comment added: "By 'not comfortable' , I mean exposing our very private life that we value. I'm still dying to do another movie with him though..."

Mendes' discomfort at exposing too much of the pair's private life has meant she's not been spotted on a red carpet with Gosling since the release of A Place Beyond the Pines.

However, that's not to say the pair still don't acknowledge one another at such events, such as when Gosling made a subtle tribute to Mendes while at the premiere for Barbie in Los Angeles in July last year.
