Meghan Trainor has revealed that she's gone 'cold turkey' regarding drinking coffee after a psychic issued a stern warning about her health.

It's said that 66 percent of American adults drink coffee everyday (according to the National Coffee Association), and Trainor was one of them.

The busy mom-of-two was on tour last year and, with her busy schedule in mind, often turned to a cup of coffee to keep her going.

Drinking coffee has its health benefits, for example if you have it at a certain time of day, it may reduce your risk of heart disease; but there's also downsides to the caffeinated beverage.

Trainor, who is married to Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara, shared that despite living a healthy lifestyle, she found that she 'still wasn't feeling great' and wasn't sure why.

Speaking to People, the 'Made You Look' hitmaker said: "I wasn't feeling great. And I was like, 'I don't understand. I eat so healthy, I work out. Why do I feel like this?' And I realized I was overworking myself."

But she found that her health improved when she ditched drinking coffee following a warning from a psychic who spoke to her husband Sabara.

"The psychic never met me. My husband was gifted a session with her and she said, 'Your wife is using coffee like speed. She's non-stop and it's not helping her and she's just crashing out,'" Trainor said.

"I was like, 'How does she know that?' And he came home and told me, and I immediately stopped. Cold turkey just stopped because I was drinking it all day to just survive and be steady and then I would crash and be buzzing at night to sleep."

The first week of no coffee was 'tough', admitted the singer, but she now insists that she has 'more energy than ever'.

"It was life-changing," Trainor added.

There are several signs that you might be drinking too much coffee, celebrity nutritionist Sarah Carolides previously told UNILAD.

Carolides suggested that people ask themselves if they're in control of their coffee consumption, or if coffee controls them.

"If you wake up in the morning and you go, I cannot function until I've had my double espresso or whatever, you know what, I want you to give it up for a while and see what happens," she said.

"Do you start getting the headaches? Do you start feeling really awful? Because if that's that's also a sign that you're not metabolizing it well and it's affecting you in the wrong way."

"If you can come off coffee easily, and doesn't affect you. You feel you still feel fine, then you're in control," Carolides concluded.
